Gunnersen studied at Cheltenham, Falmouth and Oxford, has exhibited extensively though out the UK, America and Europe, with private collections in Australia, France and the UK. Numerous solo exhibitions, and prestigious galleries include; The Royal Academy, The Arnolfini, Regents Park Knapp Gallery, and The Mall Gallery.

Priding herself on being diverse in her approach to art and always open to new challenges, Gunnersen does not readily fit into a particular genre. Her subjects and choice of materials are intuitive, influenced by life’s experiences. However, Gunnersen has an obviously tendency towards being playful with colour, has an affinity with gardens and seeks to make her work accessible to a wide audience. Much of her work is inspired by direct response, completed in situ but some is continued and developed in her studio.

Brought up in West Berkshire, Gunnersen has descended from worldwide notable figures famous for their part in the arts, government and science.

“Louise Gunnersen’s hot and sultry colours, reminiscent of Derain, her paintings of the sea-shore were bold and brave, with a clear feeling of shape and pattern” E.F.C.

“Decisively composed, with a sense of controlled tension, they combine secure draftsman ship with a firm sense of structure and perspective” Lin Wilkinson

“bowled over by colour that is strikingly joyful, providing considerable pleasure” Homes and Gardens
